Script writing can be hard work and having your work stolen is more than heart-breaking. All the money and fame you could get. seeing your name on the screen... Well, you have to know that the law is trying to help you, but you must have at least the slightest proof that the script is yours. So, having whitnesses that you wrote it can be a solution, but it's not always the safest.
The safest way is this: you put your work in an envelope. Send it to yourself. You will have the stamp of the postal office and the date. If you don't open the envelope, in case of need you can take it to court and give it to the judge. They will open it and give you all the credit you need.
Now all you can hope is that some big producer steels your script and makes it a great movie.
